SNU Lab of Animal Microbiology

Research Interest

Probiotics are generally recognized as safe and plays major roles in maintenance of human and animal health. With the concept of microbiome, probiotics and gut microbiome are involved in progress and development of metabolic disorders including obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)/Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS), cancer, depression, sleep, and arthritis as well as longevity in human. In addition, they also provide critical insights for animal production, animal disease, environmental issues, reproduction, and animal welfare in animal industry.

The mission of SNU Lab. of Animal Microbiology (SLAM) is to provide global leading probiotics- and microbiome-based solutions for human and animal health through the scientific innovation and creativity.
